Special Issue Information
The aim of this special issue of the Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering (JMBE) is to provide an overview of the recent advances in the field of Molecular Imaging broadly and in specific areas covering the whole spectrum of sub-disciplines from basic, translational, to clinical applications.
The topics of interest include but are not limited to:
1. Instrumentation and methods for molecular imaging of biological processes in health and disease:
- Ultrasound Imaging (breast density, transcranial)
- Photoacoustic Imaging
- PET & Nuclear Imaging (whole-body PET)
- Hyperpolarized NMRS
- Targeted Magnetic particle imaging
- AI for biomedical imaging
2. Molecular imaging agents (as functional contrast agents) for in vitro and pre-clinical research:
- Hyperpolarized NMRS-imaging agents
- PET & Nuclear Imaging agents (recent advances)
- Optical imaging agents
- Ultrasound imaging agents
- Multimodal imaging agents
3. Molecular imaging agents and methods for diagnosis and differential diagnosis of diseases:
- PET/CT/MRI of Neuroimaging and Alzheimer’s Disease
- PET/CT/MRI in Oncology
4. Molecular imaging methods and agents for selection and monitoring of individualized therapies:
- Small and large molecular therapies
- Targeted nanoparticle therapies
- Gene therapies (viral vectors, phage/hybrid vectors, bacterial vectors, etc.)
- Cellular immunotherapies
- Stem cell therapies
5. Molecular imaging-guided interventions using PET/CT/MRI, Optical and Ultrasound Imaging:
- biopsy
- surgery
- radiation
- HIFU
6. Theragnostic agents and methods
